Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created over at The Broke and the Bookish held every Tuesday. Each week revolves round a different theme and people from the book blogsphere pitch in with their lists.

This weeks theme is the Top 10 characters I would want with me on a deserted island. I could only think of 8 (although number 8 consists of 2 characters) I would really want with me. I've chosen a mixture of useful characters, characters that would provide some entertainment and also one purely for my own personal gain.

1.     Magnus Bane – The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
Apart from the fact his dry sense of humour would be a welcome thing on a deserted island, Magnus is also a warlock. A warlock who just happens to be able to conjure portals that can transport people to anywhere they want. It would be a bit stupid not to have him with me really.

2.     Claire Fraser – Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Claire Fraser is the type of woman you need when you’re stuck on a desert island. She knows how to get stuff done. Perhaps most importantly she is skilled in the art of medicine, especially creating medicine from the most basic of ingredients. She’d keep everyone in check and be able to keep us all alive.

3.     Jamie Fraser – Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Now I wouldn’t want to be the one to separate Jamie and Claire from one another so it is imperative that Jamie be on the island. It also helps that he is a big burly Scot who can build shelters from scratch. We would need a strong man around to take charge and pairing him with his strong willed wife I think the pair of them would keep us safe.

4.     Ian Murray – Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
I have a little soft spot for Ian Murray. However the main reason I would want him with me is because he has lived a large part of his life as a Mohawk. This means that he knows how to survive in the wild and will probably be handy with finding stuff for us to eat. His dog Rollo would obviously be with him and his sharp hunting skills would also be an advantage.

5.     Hermione Granger – Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
We all know how strong Hermione Granger is and we also all know how smart she is. That’s the reason I would have her on the island with me; her pragmatism. She would think about things logically and wouldn’t make any rash decisions. She’d also be a great person to have conversations with about books!

6.     Katniss Everdeen – The Hunger Games by Susanne Collins
She speaks for herself really. Katniss has survived a hell of a lot so I doubt being stuck on a deserted island would phase her too much. I would want her for the skills she picked up participating in the games and also as someone who matches Hermione’s logic. Whilst Katniss might be more likely to make rash decisions, I think her and Hermione would be a good team.

7.     William Herondale – The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
This choice is purely for my own personal gain. If I am going to be stuck on a deserted island I am going to need someone who can keep me occupied. Of course the dashing, intelligent and utterly irresistible William Herondale is the perfect choice!

8.     The Weasley Twins – Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
Fred and George would be the light relief that everyone would need when it’s all becoming too stressful. Whilst they might cause a little more havoc than desired their creative flare might come in handy. It would also be quite funny to see how Jamie would react to them causing mayhem.

Those are the characters I would want with me on a deserted island. What do you think? Have I made good choices? Who would you pick? Let me know in the comments.

I never imagined having you put Magnus Bane in your list haha :)) I also put Hermione and Katniss since they're both my favourite female heroines! Oh and I love the fact that you put the Weasley twins; I love Fred and George too! :) Great list.

I love your list but I think the Weasley twins would make me annoyed after a time. lol. Will is such an amazing character, he's hilarious which really would make him a great company. Hermione and Katniss are on my list too but I forgot about Magnus... so he won't be coming with me. :(
Here's my list: http://reading-is-dreaming-with-open-eyes.blogspot.hu/2014/07/top-ten-characters-i-would-want-with-me.html?

Hermione and Katniss seem to be popular with a lot of people, I have seen them on quite a few lists today!! You need to have someone to make you laugh in situations like that and Fred and George would be perfect!

I love William Herondale, I would choose to have him with me in most situations. I just think that Hermione and Katniss would make a great team, can't beat strong females working together. Magnus was the first character I thought of, his magic would come is extremely useful and he's just so sarcastic and I would need that. You may be right about Fred and George but Jamie Fraser would soon put a stop to any annoying behaviour. I'll check out your list :)
